Friday Music Video!

No cartoon this week... Instead I made a music video. It is, as you might expect, rather awful -- my singing recorded on a $10 microphone generally used for skyping with the family, the video recorded with my regular point-and-shoot camera, and the audio is dreadfully out of sync with the video (tip: Don't change the lyrics AFTER you shoot the video...) BUT: it was fun. So now you have to listen to it. And like it.

This idea started in a conversation with The Soil Sisters in Buffalo last summer. The lyrics started with ideas from Jan (I think? I don't remember now) then changed significantly by me. My friend Rachel was videographer, and that's my incredibly sexy boy friend Jason playing the guitar shovel. If you aren't familiar with the original song, it is here.
As I said... it was lots of fun. Now I want to do Lady Gaga and Mika

TOO FUNNY! You have no fear do you? I love it...this is gonna be big. You are going to be performing at all the garden shows. Do you have an agent? Better find one, fast.

Good to know you have a back-up career in music!

I have to admit, I clicked "Play' with great trepidation. Only to find it was sweet, and funny. And that you have a pretty good singing voice.

But now you know -- I'm going to be wanting a new video every Friday.

As much as I enjoy the cartoons, this musical interlude is much more entertaining. You are far more creative than you let on.

Perhaps after you get your doctorate, you will consider voice and movement lessons. If you are asked to sing at garden conventions you might as well "knock their socks off".

That was very clever of the back-up guy to get a ukulele sound out of the shovel. However did he do that?

I don't know how you pulled that off, but you totally did!

Joseph, That's great! You are fearless. Or shameless. I can't decide.

Pretty darn good~

Ok that wasn't as awful as you lead us to believe. That was much less awful than the real version of that song. I think playing the shovel might have been the best part though. I certainly would never have the guts to post anything of me singing anywhere!

Loved it. This could open so many new opportunities for you. Please tell us you are going to come to summer Fling in Seattle to perform this live for all of us!

Thanks so much for all the kind words everyone!
And Scott, yes, I am definitely shameless -- or try to me.. Embarrassment is pointless, and life's too short for it.
Carol, Sadly I'm going to have to miss the fling in Seattle... I'm hoping to graduate this summer, so I'm going to be pretty much insanely busy.
