October in the garden

Thought I'd share some photos of my garden at the moment.
 Verbena bonariensis with bronze fennel

    Hi Joseph,

    I too have incredibly beautiful mums blooming in my backyard. Their flowers are the size of my face and so top heavy that the stems can’t support them. So, they start out by drooping toward the ground and then actually falling. Do you have any suggestion?

    Yours looks like a Garden of Eden. I’m green with envy!

    Hanna,
    You could of course stake them, but I hate staking. The other option would be to be prune them before they start flowering. Earlier in the summer, just cut them back a little. That will cause them to branch and mature shorter and less likely to flop. But with the really huge mums, you might just have to stake.
